Position\: Patient Care Assistant II (Medicine and Geriatrics)

Department / Cluster\: Department of Medicine and Geriatrics, New Territories West Cluster (NTWC)

Pay:  HK$19,764 – HK$24,701 per month

Up to 5% of total basic salary as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide direct patient care such as changing napkin, transfer and escort patient, measure patient’s vital signs and other physical parameters including blood pressure, pulse rate, respiration rate, weight and height, urine testing, etc
2. Prepare patient for investigation, physical examination and nursing procedures.
3. Collect and send out specimen.
4. Assist healthcare professionals to prepare and provide health education activities, i.e. audiovisual set up, Apps installation, etc.
5. Prepare, handle and disinfection of instruments, equipment, furniture, medical consumables, and related items for nursing procedures.
6. Assist in the housekeeping of consumables, equipment, accessories of equipment, and daily supplies to ensure all records are updated, and good store management. And keep reasonable ward stock level ensuring a smooth operation.
7. Assist in management of Medical Equipment Maintenance and repair. 
   (a)Prepare for regular maintenance procedure, i.e. battery charging etc.
   (b)Responsible for equipment repairs logistic procedure and record keeping and report to nurse in-charge
   (c)Assist in periodical preventive maintenance check and keep record thereof.
   (d)Assist in keeping and monitoring tracking system of medical equipment.
   (e)Perform regular stock checking and assist in annual inventory stocktaking
   (f)Perform daily and terminal disinfection, re-assembly pre-use checking and storage of medical equipment; i.e. ventilator, physiological monitor, infusion pumps endoscope heart-lung machine etc
8. Assist in checking for OSH, e.g. environment safety checking, chemical checking, hoists checking, etc.
9. Collect blood and blood product from blood bank.
10. Provide assistance before and after the operating procedures e.g. assist in patient positioning, transport patients, etc.
11. Perform clinical related duties as assigned by supervisors

 

Entry Requirements:

1.Completed F.5/ S.5 or equivalent (see Remarks).
2.Holder of accredited Health Care Assistant or Care-related Support Workers (CRSW) certificate (see Remarks).
3.Completed structured departmental training (see Remarks).
 

Preferable Attributes/ Exposure:

1. Possess relevant working experience or training in the care of diabetic patients, eg. Haemoglucostix, retino-photography, visual acuity.
2. Good command of written and spoken in Chinese and English.
3. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Good PC skills & knowledge in common softwares such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and other Ms Office applications.

3. Applicants who do not meet entry requirement 3, if find suitable, will be employed to undergo at least 6 months’ on the job training.  Employment may be terminated if the selected applicant cannot pass the assessment after training.
4. Serving staff who completed F.3/ S.3 with care-related experience within HA may also be considered.  Candidates who have completed the JUMP program organized by the HA are considered to have attained F.3/S.3 level.
