    Farmington Public Schools is looking for an Instructional Tutor for Multilingual Learners K-4
    This position will work 15 hours per week , 180 days school year.  
    This position does not include benefits.

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

     We are seeking a dedicated Instructional Tutor to support the academic growth and English language development of Multilingual Learners (MLs) in grades K-4. This role focuses on helping students bridge language barriers to access their general education curriculum. While the goal is English proficiency, we value candidates who appreciate cultural diversity and view bilingualism as an asset.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Education: Associate's degree (or 2 years of college credit/equivalent) required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
    • Language Skills: Strong command of written and spoken English is required.
      • Note: Proficiency in a second language is considered a plus/asset, but is not a requirement for instruction.
    • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build strong rapport with elementary-aged students and maintain professional, collaborative relationships with teachers and staff.
    • Experience: Prior experience working with school-age children is highly preferred.
    • Other: Ability to follow oral and written directions and maintain student confidentiality. 

     SALARY: $27.36 - $30.56 per hour depending upon experience

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide push-in and pull-out Multilingual Learner (ML) language instruction and academic support to selected students in small groups and 1:1 settings.
    • Support students' English language development across reading, writing, speaking, and listening under the guidance of certified ML and classroom teachers.
    • Reinforce academic content and discipline-specific vocabulary from the general education classroom (e.g., ELA, science, social studies) to strengthen comprehension and participation.
    • Assist in adapting and scaffolding instructional materials and learning tasks to ensure accessibility for students at varying levels of English proficiency.
    • Implement ML instructional strategies developed in collaboration with ML teachers to meet individual student needs.
    • Foster a welcoming, culturally responsive learning environment where students feel safe taking academic and linguistic risks.
    • Monitor student performance and language development; communicate progress with ML teachers and classroom teachers to help adjust support strategies.
    • Administer and score appropriate assessments under the guidance of a certified teacher.
    • Promote effective home�school communication to support student learning and engagement.
    • Prepare and maintain required documentation in accordance with the district ML plan.
    • Participate in ongoing professional learning, including monthly professional development related to ML instruction, materials, and best practices.
